New Work
In a recent trip to Southern Africa, we found zebra were plentiful in most locations, but they still were some of the most fascinating animals. The stripe patterns are all unique and can be recognized by newborns within a few days. We found this dazzle (group) of zebra just before the sun dropped below the horizon. This acrylic painting on linen is 15" x 30".

This zebra was the dominant male and seemed
to be deciding if we were a threat. This midday
scene shows the zebra in the dry season with
ever-present lion grass and taller elephant
grass. The painting is 11"x 14" acrylic on linen.

This painting is also 11"x 14" acrylic on linen and is a good companion piece for the one above.

This acrylic painting on linen canvas is 20" x 24". It was recently shown in the annual exhibition of the "National Society of Painters in Casein & Acrylic" at the Salmagundi Club in New York City. It depicts a Florida alligator moving quietly toward a group of unsuspecting ibises in the background. Intricate lighting and reflections help describe the sultry atmosphere of the swampland environment. It is entitled: A Stealthy Approach.

Blue Spring State Park in Orange City, Florida is a popular tourist attraction as well as a winter refuge for the West Indian Manatee. In the winter, the manatee seek the warmth of the constant 72 degree water from the spring boil. This acrylic painting on linen is 24" x 30" and depicts the docile mammals enjoying the crystal-clear water with the dense tropical forest beyond.

"An Early Start" is a nostalgic look back at the Florida citrus industry of the past. Pickers begin another day harvesting a crop of oranges as the yellow lab waits for his master. This acrylic painting on linen is 12" x 24".
